Chile had a national decrease in registration of vaccines in 2016

According to data obtained by the newspaper La Tercera, Transparency Law reflects that the National Immunization Program (PNI) in Chile, had coverage less than or equal to 85% in 2016, showing a decrease in relation to previous years.

Vaccines such as the (BCG) applied to newborns against tuberculosis had a coverage of 85.5%, 12, 8 percentage points lower than 2014 (98.3%). Pentavalent administered against hepatitis B, convulsive cough and other diseases was covered by 82.3% compared to 94.9% in 2014.

For some experts, the reason for the decrease in Chile is related to movements opposed to the obligations of the vaccination programs
