Preventing Obesity and Being Overweight

Nutrient profile model 2016 of the Pan American Health Organization seeks to be a support tool for the implementation of regulatory measures to prevent and control the prevalence of overweight and obesity (62% in adults over 20 Years and 20 and 25% in children and adolescents).

Regulatory measures include:

-Restriction of the marketing of unhealthy foods and drinks to children.

-Regulation of food in the school environment (food programs, food and beverages sold in schools).

-Using warning labels on the front of the container.

-Definition of tax policies to limit the consumption of unhealthy foods.
