HIV Positive results grew 44.6% in Chile

The latest report of the Chilean ISP accounts for a 44.6% increase in the number of positive HIV results between 2010 and 2015. The regions with the highest prevalences, each year of the study period, were those of Arica and Parinacota, Metropolitan, and of Tarapacá. 67.5% corresponded to the age groups of 20 to 29 years, and from 30 to 39 years, the lowest rates were observed in individuals from 60 to 69 years, followed by the group of 70 or more years. More than 80% of the positive cases correspond to men and finally it is important to highlight the significant decrease in the transmission of HIV infection from mother to child in 2010-2015 (71 HIV + children out of a total of 1,143 diagnosed cases ).
